Spanish Broadcasting System, Inc. announced hat Mega TV will launch on WSJU-TV Channel 30, the network’s newest affiliate in Puerto Rico, pursuant to a retransmission agreement entered into between SBS and WSJU station owner, AERCO. The agreement allows island residents to enjoy Mega TV’s high quality programming via over-the-air, as well as all cable and satellite systems serving Puerto Rico. The launch will take place on Monday, August 25th.

“This new affiliate is another step forward for Spanish-language television, allowing all of Puerto Rico to enjoy the best Mega TV prime time shows,” said Luis Roldan, Senior Vice President and General Manager of Mega TV in Puerto Rico. “Additionally, we will be tailoring certain broadcasts to give viewers localized Mega TV programming with such shows such as: ‘Maria Elvira Live’, ‘Paparazzi’ and ‘Mega News’. Audiences will also have access to the local talents of Silverio Perez, Funky Joe, Gangster, and Julian Gil, as well as political shows and other featured programming on the new station”, stated Roldan.

The Puerto Rican audience will have access to WSJU-Channel 30, a full-power licensed over-the-air television station serving the San Juan metropolitan area and carried on all island satellite and cable systems including Liberty Cablevision, Choice Cable TV, One Link Communications and Dish Network.

“We are honored and pleased about the upcoming launch of Mega TV Channel 30 because it will enormously help our growth plan, and it will guarantee our position as a leading competitor in Hispanic television,” said Cynthia Hudson-Fernandez, Executive Vice President and Chief Creative Officer of Mega TV.
