ESPN Deportes live coverage of FC Barcelona at New York Red Bulls.

ESPN2 and ESPN Deportes will present live coverage of the international soccer match between FC Barcelona and the New York Red Bulls on Wednesday, August 6 at 7 p.m. ET from Giants Stadium in E. Rutherford, NJ.

ESPN’s Rob Stone (play-by-play) and John Harkes (analyst) will call the match on ESPN2. Spanish-language commentary will be handled by José Hernandez (play-by-play) and former MLS player Giovanne Savarese, with live reports from onsite from Fernando Palomo. Coverage on ESPN Deportes will begin at 6:30 p.m. ET with a pre-game presentation of studio show Cronómetro.

FC Barcelona brings to the states some of the most popular soccer icons in the world, including French World Cup champion Thierry Henry, Mexican international defender Rafael Marquez, Cameroon standout Samuel Eto’o, and a trio of Spanish national team standouts who recently helped their squad win the 2008 UEFA Euro Championship – defender and captain Carles Puyol, midfielder Andres Iniesta and tournament MVP Xavi. As a club, Barca has captured 18 league titles, two European championships, two European Super Cups, four Cup Winner’s Cups and several other national and continental cups.

As part of its expanding international soccer coverage, ESPN is following its successful 2008 UEFA EURO Championship coverage with the FCB match and continuous telecast of Major League Soccer, including the memorable 2008 MLS All-Star Game last week in Toronto, the FIFA World Cup qualifiers ahead of the 2010 FIFA World Cup, all scheduled to be aired across the company’s multimedia assets.
