Diversity Committee again asks For PPM Investigation.

According to Radio Ink, the FCC Advisory Committee on Diversity for Communications in the Digital Age is again asking the commission to investigate the possible “detrimental and discriminatory effect” of Arbitron’s Portable People Meter on stations targeting minority audiences. The same request from the committee earlier this month was rejected on procedural grounds.

Arbitron said it believes the FCC lacks the jurisdiction to investigate it but that it is “committed to continue our voluntary discussions with the FCC and black-owned and Spanish-language radio to explain fully the Portable People Meter system.”
