“Every four years the world comes together to focus on the Olympic Games. It’s an extraordinary and transforming event where nations come together in peace to compete and celebrate excellence. Four years ago Telemundo made history for being the first US Hispanic network ever to broadcast the Olympic Games in Spanish. Today, we are delighted to carry on this tradition by bringing back the Olympics in our audience’s native language, on both the TV screen and through our extensive Olympic webpage,” said Don Browne, President of Telemundo.

Telemundo’s Olympic programming includes the broadcast of sports events narrated in Spanish, as well as a series of special programs focusing on the participating Latin American countries, Hispanic athletes and all the excitement from the Olympic Games in Beijing.

“For the first time on Telemundo, our viewers will enjoy the complete Olympic experience and will have the opportunity to sample a diverse offering of events. But, most importantly, Telemundo will be the only Hispanic network to highlight the drama and personal quest for glory of our athletes in Beijing” said Jorge Hidalgo, SEVP of Telemundo Sports & Executive Producer of Telemundo’s Olympic coverage.

The network Olympic coverage will feature competitions in the following sports, among others: men’s and women’s soccer, basketball, gymnastics, diving, volleyball, as well as track and field, swimming and baseball.

In addition, Telemundo is launching www.OlimpiadasTelemundo.com, featuring more than 220 hours of up-to-the-minute information and exclusive broadband video content 24/7. Photo galleries, videos, profiles of prominent Olympians, news, historic information and images from past Olympics, as well as from Beijing, will be available on the network’s webpage. The site also provides recaps of past Latino Olympic performances, medal stats, Olympic information by country, real time scores and full digital access to the Summer Olympics.
