Cast of Mega TV ‘Gabriel’.

Spanish Broadcasting System, Inc. announced the names of the supporting castmembers who will be sharing the set with Latino icons Chayanne (playing the modern-day vampire of the title role) and José Luis Rodríguez (El Puma) on “Gabriel”, the first miniseries aired by Mega TV and produced by the new entertainment division Megafilms, which is scheduled to debut in September. DirecTV Más also signed on as Co-producer of this groundbreaking project.

The co-protagonist female lead is played by Mexican starlet, Angelica Celaya. The “Gabriel” storyline features Celaya as Eva, a beautiful and dedicated woman who works at a local hospital as an Emergency Room nurse. As a direct bloodline descendant of Gabriel’s former wife, Eva is, for all intents and purposes, the reincarnation of Gabriel’s lost love. Each night, she is haunted by mysterious dreams about her ancestry which are heightened when the mysterious Gabriel (Chayanne) appears in her life.

Celaya, born and raised in Arizona, graduated with a degree in Psychology and Scenic Arts. The accomplished actress made her acting debut while in college and subsequently performed on several telenovelas including “Ladrón de Corazones”, “Los Plateados”, “Bajo la Misma Piel” and “Cárcel de Mujeres,” among others broadcast on Hispanic TV in the United States. She also portrayed the role of Gloria Valenzuela in the feature film “Ghost Town”.

Laura Ferretti plays Maribel Delgado, Eva’s best friend and roommate. Maribel studies Psychology and works nights as a waitress at a bar in Miami Beach to pay for her collegetuition. In her spare time she tries to learn how to read the tarot cards and has a more-than-avid interest in the occult. Maribel is a fighter and a dreamer, as is the real-life Ferretti.

The renowned Mexican actor, Sebastián Ligarde stars in the role of Santori, the religious investigator-turned-fanatic who is commissioned by the Vatican to destroy the bloodthirsty vampire, “Pizarro” (Jose Luis Rodriguez). To Santori, the ends justify the means, regardless of who is destroyed in the process. In his native Mexico, Ligarde has received the “El Heraldo” award for best actor. He has also received numerous awards from the C.I.N.P.E (National Circle of Entertainment Journalists), including the 2000 Award for Best Leading Actor in a Soap Opera. In addition, he has received four TV y Novelas Awards for his work in television.

Julián Gil will play the role of Dr. Bernardo Padrón. Gil has had an outstanding career as a TV host and soap opera actor, and has been featured in movies as well. Mirta Renee, playing the role of Vanessa, has studied acting in France and Mexico and is known for her soap opera performances on Spanish television networks in the United States since 2005.

Additional castmembers include Laura Zerra, Freddy Viquez, Juan David Ferrer, Alvaro Ruiz, Marcos Miranda, Leonard Krys and Camila Banus.

Filmed in high-definition with 3-D animation and special effects, “Gabriel” is the first originally scripted dramatic miniseries produced for Mega TV by Megafilms. The launch of Megafilms is part of the company’s effort to further build on Mega TV’s unprecedented ratings success since its debut two years ago.
