Badillo named Sr VP of Programming for Hispanic Children’s Network.

Juniper Content Corporation’s ¡Sorpresa! announced the promotion of Maria Badillo to Senior Vice President of Programming in recognition of her leadership role in the creation and implementation of ¡Sorpresa!’s new programming, scheduling and on-air initiatives.

Ms. Badillo joined ¡Sorpresa! last year as Vice President of Programming responsible for acquisitions and co-productions. Since that time she has brought a range of high-quality programs to the network including Cubeez for pre-schoolers, Lola & Virginia for kids, and Erky Perky for teenagers. Ms. Badillo has been instrumental in ¡Sorpresa!’s program scheduling, on-air promotion activities and the network’s re-branding efforts. Her most recent achievement was establishing a multi-platform partnership with Major League Soccer (MLS) to promote healthy lifestyles to kids through broadband, programming and grassroots efforts.

“Maria has successfully developed and implemented an array of exciting programming initiatives for ¡Sorpresa!. Our new partnership with MLS is just one example of the great work Maria does for this network,” commented Stuart B. Rekant, President and CEO of ¡Sorpresa!. “We feel Maria’s established relationships with quality producers and distributors coupled with her excellent instinctual ability have significantly enhanced ¡Sorpresa!’s programming line-up and the network’s attractiveness to our distribution and marketing partners.”

Prior to joining ¡Sorpresa!, Ms. Badillo worked for Discovery Kids Network Latin America. At Discovery Kids, Ms. Badillo helped establish the network’s preschool environment as well as its kid-friendly digital environment in Spanish.

Ms. Badillo also held programming and promotions positions at Univision, X-EIPN Channel 11 in Mexico City, Palmera Films, Channel 22 in Mexico, MTV Networks Latin America and the Mexico City based El Nuevo Reino Aventura Entertainment Department.
