CLUB AMÉRICA and CHIVAS de GUADALAJARA will take to the field at PIZZA HUT PARK.

Following last year’s game between Mexico and Argentina, played in front of 10,000 soccer fans at the Robertson Stadium in Houston, Nissan and Fox Sports en Español are pleased to announce this year’s match-up for “El Reto Final Nissan: LEGENDS of CLUB AMÉRICA vs. CHIVAS de GUADALAJARA.”

This historic meeting will bring together an all-star line-up of some of the biggest players of the past from these two legendary Mexican teams and will take place on Sunday, May 25th at Pizza Hut Park in Dallas, Texas.

“Nissan is proud to sponsor El Reto Final for the third year in a row,” says Ben Poore, Vice President of Marketing for NNA. “The Hispanic market is important to Nissan and El Reto is one way we can demonstrate our commitment to this community. This event is a truly integrated promotion that allows fans to access content through television, online and of course at the final match. Like many soccer fans, we are looking forward to the classic match between the two great teams.”

The legendary rivalry between CHIVAS de GUADALAJARA and CLUB AMÉRICA goes back for decades with both teams having been very successful over the years—América has won 10, and Guadalajara 11 league championships. The “El Reto Final Nissan: LEGENDS of CLUB AMÉRICA vs. CHIVAS de GUADALAJARA” match will be the culmination of five weeks of programming on Fox Sports en Español, as the show’s host, George X, travels around Mexico tracking down players from these two Mexican super clubs to invite them to a re-match. The program airs on Sundays at 9PM EST.

Peter Christiansen, CEO of Miami-based Zeal Television, the production company producing the El Reto Final series, says that the series this year has a number of twists. “We invited two major captains: Alberto Garcia Aspe, and Fernando Quirarte to serve as captains and advisors to George X,” says Christiansen. “Helped by legendary coaches Alberto Guerra from Chivas de Guadalajara and Hector Reinoso from Club América, they really have been able to assemble an outstanding list of players for the rematch at Pizza Hut Park,” says Christiansen.

“We are pleased to bring ‘El Reto Final Nissan’ to our loyal viewers for the third straight year in a row as the perfect complement to our year-round coverage of the Mexican soccer league, and the participation of Mexican teams in the Copa Santander Libertadores and Copa Nissan Sudamericana,” stated David Sternberg, Executive Vice President of Emerging Networks for Fox Cable Networks and General Manager FUEL TV, Fox Soccer Channel, and Fox Sports en Español.
