TuContacto-Atl.Com launches in Atlanta.

Hispanic Interactive and Media Services announced the launch of TuContacto-Atl.com, Atlanta’s newest entertainment website geared towards the Latino community, on April 14, 2008. Led by eleven-year television and radio sales veteran, Jose Villafane, TuContacto-Atl.com is a new alternative media vehicle reaching the Atlanta Hispanic community.

TuContacto-Atl.com, meaning “Your Contact” or “Your Connection,” serves two different purposes. First, for our audience, its purpose is to connect them to their favorite music, sports, news, local events, and community outreach programs. Secondly, for our media partners, TuContacto-Atl.com is a way to connect with new consumers in a creative, effective and efficient media platform.

TuContacto.com will launch in three stages. Initially, the web site will launch in Atlanta, focusing on local entertainment and information. Secondly, it will launch in Southeastern markets such as Tampa, Orlando, Miami and Raleigh. Finally, TuContacto.com will launch on a national level in the Top 25 Hispanic markets such as New York, Los Angeles, Houston and Chicago, each market with their own local identity.

Hispanic Interactive and Media Services chose to launch in Atlanta because of the city’s dynamic business opportunity. Not only is Atlanta a fast growing Hispanic market with 650,000 official Hispanics, but there are an estimated additional 470,000 undocumented Latinos, according to a report released in early 2006 by the office of Home Land Security. Additionally, Atlanta poses an opportunity in the media realm. Cities like Miami, New York and Los Angeles have four or five Spanish television stations and another ten to twelve Spanish radio stations. Atlanta only has one local Univision station, three Spanish FMs, and a hand full of small AM signals. This market is under-serviced when it comes to Spanish media alternatives. TuContacto-Atl.com was created in order to fill that void and help advertisers reach this important community that has an average household income of $68,000+ and $11 billion in disposable income. A strong economic situation, growing housing boom and open arena in media make Atlanta a prime city to launch any business.
