Telemundo Communications Group has named Jacqueline Hernandez as its Chief Operating Officer (COO). Based out of New York, Hernandez will assume the newly created position with responsibility for all domestic revenue and marketing; digital media and emerging platforms; mun2, Telemundo’s Latino-youth cable network; and all research functions. The announcement was made by Don Browne, President, Telemundo Communications Group, to whom she will report directly.
A seasoned executive with over 20 years of media experience across print, television and online, Hernandez will be responsible for leading and unifying all sales, marketing and domestic growth platforms for the consolidated Telemundo network and stations group. Her mission will be to bridge all Telemundo offerings to domestic advertising clients and enhance Telemundo’s connection with its audience. The new COO will partner closely with Telemundo’s programming, studio, and news and sports leaders to strategically grow Telemundo’s market share.
“Jackie is a great addition to the Telemundo management team. Her extensive knowledge of the Hispanic market, her experience in multi-media platforms and her outstanding reputation in the industry will be important contributions to our team and essential to our future growth in an increasingly diverse, competitive and changing environment,” said Browne.
“I’m thrilled to be joining the Telemundo Group. No other media company has the assets and original content to reach Hispanic consumers of all acculturations and ages across broadcast, cable and the Internet,” said Hernandez.
Prior to this assignment, Hernandez was the publisher of People en Español, the best selling Hispanic magazine in the U.S. She joined the magazine in March 2004 and under her leadership, People en Español has held a three-year trajectory of year-over-year double-digit growth. In 2007 Hernández relaunched the magazine’s website, peopleenespanol.com, repositioning the site as the leading bilingual entertainment destination. In June 2005, she took on additional duties as publisher of Teen People overseeing the day-to-day business operations for both the Hispanic and teen/multicultural titles.
