Cerveza Tecate announced the launch of a marketing campaign to support its first major boxing match of the year, a bout between Juan Manuel Marquez (48-3-1, 35 KOs) and Manny Pacquiao (45-3-2, 34 KOs). Tecate will showcase its commitment to the sport during the March 15 WBC Super Featherweight Championship event in front of 12,000 fans at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, and countless more through HBO’s live simulcast.

“As one of the most popular sports among Latinos in the U.S., boxing has provided Tecate with the perfect vehicle for connecting with Mexican adults who enjoy watching the skills and fervor these athletes bring to the ring,” said Arturo Vargas, Events & Sponsorships Manager for Tecate. “We will launch various promotions to ensure consumers of legal drinking age have an opportunity to partake in the excitement, as part of our continuous commitment to provide enhanced experiences. We look forward to strengthening our relationship with Tecate consumers during an undoubtedly exciting year of boxing.”

As part of its comprehensive marketing campaign, through radio and retail sweepstakes Tecate will offer boxing aficionados in Las Vegas the opportunity to win tickets to the Marquez vs. Pacquiao super fight. Additionally, in the days leading up to the event, the brand will host an exclusive autograph and photo session with Golden Boy fighters and the lovely Chicas Tecate. Lastly, multi-packs of Tecate will contain a $20 mail-in rebate for the HBO Pay-Per-View event.

Enhancing its relationship with Golden Boy Promotions and participation in some of the year’s most important fights, Tecate also brings the passion of the sport each week to boxing fans in 42 national markets and 70 foreign countries through its title sponsorship of “Solo Boxeo Tecate.” Broadcast live on Telefutura, the program showcases some of the most promising fighters in key markets such as Chicago; Cabazon, Calif.; and Brownsville, Texas.
