Azteca America debuts miniseries block.

Azteca America announced today that its new block of variety miniseries, titled “En Corto” (In Short) will premiere with the Colombian production of Criminal, El Vengador (Criminal, the Avenger) a hard-hitting look at the criminal underworld in Latin America. The Criminal miniseries of 15 one-hour episodes stripped Monday to Friday will begin airing on Azteca America stations coast to coast on Monday, August 27 at 8 p.m. Eastern/7 p.m. Central.
“The En Corto block is a departure from telenovelas in prime time,” stated Azteca America CEO Adrian Steckel, “and an effort to bring our viewers highly successful miniseries-type programming from Mexico and South America of various genres, including action, drama, and comedy.”
Criminal, the Avenger, the first miniseries of the new primetime block, is the story of a young taxi driver named Alejandro Ruiz who witnesses the assassination of his father and decides to take the law into his own hands. In pursuit of justice he becomes a killer himself but leads a double life as loving family man and model citizen.
A production of Caracol TV, Criminal was directed by Diego Mejía and Germán Porras and stars Luis Fernando Orozco, Astrid Junquito, Roger Moreno, María Soledad Rodríguez, Constanza Gutiérrez, Elkin Díaz, Tania Falquez, Jimmy Vásquez, Ricardo Leguízamo, Consuelo Moure, Hernán Méndez and Silvio Ángel.
