El Gángster & Funky Joe join Spanish Broadcasting System.

Spanish Broadcasting System (SBS) announced that the two most famous DJs in Puerto Rico, Antonio Sánchez, known as “The Gangster” and José Vallenilla, known as “Funky Joe,” have become part of the SBS family as exclusive talent. Sánchez and Vallenilla, whose radio show has gotten top rating for the last 15 years, have signed long term five year contracts with the company.

Raúl Alarcón, CEO of SBS, and SBS-Puerto Rico executives Carlos “Topy” Mamery, vice-president of operations, and engineer Félix A. Bonnet, manager of operations and vice president of programming, have all expressed their confidence that this new hiring will forever change radio in Puerto Rico,

“Having Antonio and José join the SBS family is a great opportunity for economic growth at SBS”, said Alarcón Jr. “It shows the tangible interest of our company in investing in Puerto Rico.”

The executives of SBS-Puerto Rico also confirmed that they are initiating a construction project for a new studio in Guaynabo, which will include the latest technology for the new “The Gangster” and “Funky Joe” show.

“It will be a studio designed with state of the art digital equipment where we can also broadcast “The Gangster” and “Funky Joe” on television, while having the capability to stream the show on the Internet. Our plan is to construct a radio theater of great impact,” expressed Bonnet.

Mamery added, “The arrival of these two great hosts solidifies our position as the number one radio business in Puerto Rico.”
