Cita con Caracol Turns 20.

On July 19th, Cita con Caracol, Radio Caracol 1260 AM’s cultural show, turns 20 years old. Mrs. Carmenza Jaramillo, Colombian General Consul in Miami, will host a dinner for special guests to celebrate the occasion.

Cita con Caracol is a 1 hour daily cultural show, in which director and host Enrique Cordoba talks about current issues with guests in Miami, Latin America or anywhere in the World. The show, only daily cultural radio show with top ratings, airs Monday to Friday, from 9 to 10 a.m.

The show first aired July 19th 1987, twenty years ago, and went by the name of “Cita con Enrique Cordoba.”

In the past 20 years the most talented Spanish language writers have been interviewed on Cita con Caracol. Nobel Award Winners such as: Gabriel Garcia Marquez, Octavio Paz, Camilo Jose Cela, V.S. Naipaul and Czeslaw Milosz; and writers, poets and painters such as: Gaston Baquero, Fernando Botero, Guillermo Cabrera Infante, Eliseo Alberto, Mario Vargas Llosa, Carlos Fuentes, Carlos Alberto Montaner, Arturo Perez Reverte, Isabel Allende, Gonzalo Rojas, Rosa Montero or Antonio Skarmeta.

Enrique Cordoba stated: “My biggest satisfaction is having been able to create a radio show that looks to promote Hispanic culture, our values and promote Hispanic harmony in the US. This has been an intellectual adventure, with great rating and ad sales results. This comes to show that culture shows can be profitable if done with imagination, good taste and respect for the listeners.”
