Telemundo accepting applications for ‘Taller Telemundo: Actores’.

Telemundo announced it will begin accepting applications on June 18 for “Taller Telemundo: Actores,” an innovative educational program designed to train the next generation of Hispanic actors. The initiative is an extension of the already successful bi-coastal writer’s program “Taller Telemundo: Escritores.” Telemundo once again partners with Miami Dade College, North Campus to create the acting school, which will be directed by Academy Award and Golden Globe nominee, actress and director, Adriana Barraza.

“Taller Telemundo: Actores will offer aspiring actors the opportunity to fulfill a lifelong dream and will provide students with the privilege of working with one of the biggest talents in the industry today,” said Don Browne, President, Telemundo. “Adriana Barraza’s expertise and talent combined with Miami Dade College’s high-quality educational standards and Telemundo’s resources will provide a unique and valuable opportunity for aspiring Latino actors.”

“I feel a great sense of pride to be part of Taller Telemundo: Actores. This is a unique opportunity for Hispanics with a passion and a natural ability for acting to receive a hands-on education that isn’t otherwise available to acting students who seek training of this caliber,” added Barraza.

A longtime acting coach for Telemundo and most recently best recognized for her role as “Amelia” in the big screen hit Babel, Adriana Barraza brings her bounty of talent and knowledge to the program, which will provide a curriculum that specifically prepares Hispanic actors for television acting with a special focus in the ever popular telenovela genre. Prospective students will participate in a highly competitive three month instructional course in Miami, FL., designed with a hands-on approach, with major concentration in the areas of acting techniques, voice, diction and movement.

The four-week application process begins June 18 and will close July 13, 2007. “Taller Telemundo: Actores” is open to aspiring actors over the age of 18 that are willing and able to relocate to Miami, FL for a period of approximately three months, beginning in September, 2007. Online applications will require a headshot and a resume along with submission.
