Upfront 2007 – 2008: Univision, TeleFutura, Galavision & Univision.com.
April 17, 2007
Univision Communications Inc. incorporated user-generated videos and testimonials into the heart of its 2007 Upfront presentation – themed “I ? Univision” – to demonstrate the Company’s unique relationship with its audiences. The hottest Univision stars were joined by ‘Team Univision,’ a group of viewers from across the country, as well as superstars Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony and Latin pop sensation RBD in New York to unveil programming schedules for the Univision Network, TeleFutura Network and Galavisión Network for the 2007-2008 season.
“The intensely passionate connection and powerful level of engagement that Univision has with its viewers is fundamentally different than the other networks and unparalleled in the media industry,” said Joe Uva, Univision’s Chief Executive Officer. “We are thrilled to showcase our truest stars, our Univision viewers, as we reveal our three exciting programming slates for 2007-2008.”
Ray Rodriguez, Univision’s President and COO, added, “The heart of Univision’s success is in the top-notch programming found on all three of our television networks. We connect to our audiences by giving our viewers the entertainment and information they have come to expect in an atmosphere that feels like home and nothing proves this more than our recent ratings success. The Univision Network continues to attract more young adult viewers than at least one of the Big 4 networks on a regular basis; the TeleFutura Network has become the #2 Spanish-language network in the country, surpassing Telemundo; and our cable network, Galavisión, has begun to outdeliver broadcast network Azteca America. We are very excited about our 2007-2008 lineups and we expect them to deliver similarly superior ratings for the Company.”
Dennis McCauley, Co-President of Network Sales, said, “Univision is committed to putting our unique connection with our viewers to work for our advertisers. We are focused on being an even more flexible partner, allowing our clients to leverage our unrivaled ability to reach the powerful and growing Hispanic consumer base by putting the right pieces of our portfolio together to effectively and creatively meet their needs.”
‘Team Univision’ consists of viewers from across the country who submitted a video on Univision.com explaining why they love Univision. The videos were showcased at today’s presentation, which also included appearances by Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony in addition to a surprise concert by RBD, who performed for hundreds of screaming fans in the atrium of the Time Warner Center, where the presentation took place.
Also at today’s presentation, Univision awarded Allstate, Ford and Subway with its first-ever ‘Corazón (Heart) Awards,’ which were established this year to pay tribute to advertisers who best touched the hearts of Univision viewers. Advertisers submitted entries, which were posted on Univision.com, and Univision viewers subsequently voted on the advertisements they found particularly meaningful.
Also taking part in the event were: Bárbara Bermudo, Giselle Blondet, Carlos Calderón, Carmen Dominicci, Charytín Goyco, Mario Kreutzberger “Don Francisco,” Adamari López, Raúl De Molina, Jorge Ramos, Marco Antonio Regil, María Elena Salinas, Eduardo Santamarina, Cristina Saralegui, Gabriel Soto, Angélica Vale, Mayrín Villanueva and Susana Zabaleta.
