Perez – Director of Corporate Relations @ USHCC.

The United States Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (USHCC) announced that Silvia Perez will serve as Director of Corporate Relations for the USHCC. Perez replaces Connie Valiente, who worked with the USHCC for six years.

“Silvia brings expertise, passion and lengthy experience in business to the USHCC,” said USHCC President and CEO Michael L. Barrera. “As we continue to work more with Corporate America, we are confident Silvia will help strengthen and grow our corporate relationships to an even higher level of productivity and success.”

Perez, a native of Guanajuato, Mexico, most recently worked for the United Migrant Opportunity Services Inc. (UMOS) in Milwaukee. While with UMOS, she played a vital role in increasing corporate participation in the Hispanic community on both the local and national levels. Through her work, UMOS grew in national recognition and established a strong corporate partnership network.

“The USHCC is such a strong, influential and respected organization,” Perez said. “It is an honor for me to be a part of the team and join their effort as a strong and leading voice for Hispanic-owned businesses.”

In this new position, Perez will oversee the relationship between the USHCC and the many corporate partners in the United States and in nations across the globe. Perez will also spearhead the USHCC corporate sponsorship and corporate partnership programs.

Connie Valiente will work with the firm Comunicad, but she will continue to assist the USHCC in a consulting capacity in preparation for the 2007 USHCC Annual Convention, Business Expo & International Pavilion in San Juan, Puerto Rico, Sept. 19-22, 2007.

“Obviously we are sad to see Connie go and will miss her leadership and commitment to the organization, but we are excited for her and her new career,” Barrera said. “Both Connie and Silvia are incredible Latina leaders who will continue to raise the bar for what it means to be a professional and leader in the corporate setting, and both exemplify what Latinas can and are accomplishing all across this country.”
