New mun2 studios.

mun2 officially kicked off production for all West-Coast properties from the network’s brand new production facilities just completed in the heart of CityWalk at Universal Studios Hollywood, The Entertainment Capital of L.A. One year in the making, the completion of the mun2 studios marks a significant milestone in the network’s evolution since its relaunch. In addition, mun2 office space and Telemundo’s new research facilities are also opening at the new CityWalk space.

“As part of Telemundo’s commitment to fresh, original productions, the new mun2 studios are one more example of our company-wide strategy to develop and produce content that is relevant to Hispanics living in the U.S., across all ages,” said Don Browne, President, Telemundo. “Los Angeles is a key market for mun2 and Telemundo’s growth. The new studios, together with our new research facilities and offices, are a tangible manifestation of our commitment to this market.”

“Our new production studios further solidify mun2 as a leading provider of content for young Latinos in the U.S. and speaks loud and clear to our commitment to this demo,” added Alex Pels, General Manager, mun2. “We’re excited to continue breaking ground for all young Latinos who now have a first-rate production center created just for them. The fact that we’re located in one of the prime tourist destinations in the country, in the number-one Hispanic market in the U.S., makes it all the more exciting to call CityWalk home.”

The new facilities include 16,000 square feet of studio and production control room support space. The studio boasts two glass walls measuring over 100 feet on both sides, which offer a panoramic view of CityWalk from the studio set, and allow CityWalk visitors a clear view of the studios and ongoing productions. The studio space includes a full production control room, digital video and audio capabilities and live connectivity.

Additionally, the new space includes 4,000 square feet of research facilities and 10,000 square feet of office space. The research facilities will be used by Telemundo and all NBC Universal properties and include focus group rooms and a computer station room that will be used for dial and quantitative data gathering. The facilities will also include a media preview room that will showcase upcoming shows. The mun2 offices, adjacent to the studio and research space, will hold state-of-the-art post-production video and audio facilities.

All of mun2’s west coast productions will be completed at the new studios, including production for hit shows such as “One Nation Under Hip Hop,” “The Shift,” “Reventon,” and “Vivo,” the network’s music variety show featuring live performances, celebrity guests and a live studio audience. The network will continue to have additional production capabilities at the Telemundo studios in Miami, Florida.

The launch of mun2’s production facilities is a key component of the official Spring 2007 launch of the “new” CityWalk at Universal Studios Hollywood that will boast a revitalized 18-screen movie theatre, additional and enhanced dining as well as retail and entertainment options to the iconic open-air leisure and nightlife complex.
