Telemundo announces key appointments.

Telemundo announced the appointment of Joshua Mintz to the position of Vice President, Talent Strategy, Telemundo Studios. In addition, Roberto Stopello, a seasoned novela writer and Telemundo veteran, has been promoted to Director of the Writing Department. The announcement was made by Telemundo Studios President, Patricio Wills to whom Mintz and Stopello report directly.
“Joshua and Roberto are great examples of the great talent Telemundo is attracting as we continue growing our network and production studios,” said Wills. “They are both experts in their fields and are a tremendous asset to the Telemundo family.”
In his new post, Mintz will be responsible for providing creative, strategic production-related insight, expertise, and support to Telemundo Studios and Network. He will be charged with scouting and securing top on-air talent, as well as ensuring that talent casting and selection for all Telemundo Studios productions meet the network’s Entertainment Department strategy and quality standards. In addition, Mintz will work closely with Business Affairs and Talent Development, among other departments, in the negotiations of talent contracts, and network promotional efforts.
With more than 25 years of experience in the U.S. and global Hispanic market, Mintz most recently worked for Azteca America holding key posts in Programming and Production, as well as Acquisitions, Development, Research, and Operations. In addition, Mintz acquired valuable experience in the U.S. Hispanic market during a five year tenure with Univision.
Previously, Mintz worked for Televisa holding key posts in Production and Programming and was Executive Producer for various notable shows in Mexico.
Prior to his promotion, Roberto Stopello served as a writer for multiple Telemundo telenovela original productions. Included among them, Stopello supervised the storyline of “Ladron de Corazones,” wrote the adaptation of “Amor Descarado,” and worked as head-writer for “La Mujer en el Espejo.” Most recently, Stopello spearheaded the team of writers of the successful series “Decisiones.” In addition, Stopello served as a member of the teaching staff for the acclaimed innovative educational program, “Taller Telemundo: Escritores” developed in partnership with Miami Dade Community college, developed to recruit and train the next generation of writers for Spanish-language television.
In his new role as Director, Stopello is charged with overseeing Telemundo Studios’ talented Writing Department and will be at the helm of developing the best storylines of the ever-popular telenovela genre.
