Telemundo 52 reporter Martin Placencia Honor with Avance Award.

KVEA, Channel 52 award-winning journalist Martin Plascencia, a renowned television personality in L.A.’s Hispanic community, was honored with an Avance Award by Hispanic Americans for Fairness in Media (HAFM) during a cocktail reception last night at the Hollywood Renaissance Hotel in Hollywood, California.

The Avance Award recognizes professionalism, longevity and integrity for radio and television broadcasters, filmmakers and journalists. “This award marks another great accomplishment for our station, and we feel especially proud of Martin; an outstanding reporter who not only excels in the field of journalism, but is strongly committed to the community which he serves,” said Manuel Abud, Vice President and General Manager of KVEA, Channel 52.

This year, KVEA Channel 52, was also honored with the Bill Stout Award for Station Spot News and the Mark Twain Broadcast Journalism Award.

Hispanic Americans for Fairness in Media, formed in July 1999, aims to improve the image and employment of Latinos in radio, television, film and print media. The organization counts with a strong board of directors composed of many experienced Hispanic community leaders and activists.
