AT&T Wireless helps Univision viewers choose ‘Nuestra Belleza Latina’.

After a nationwide search in six cities, Univision Network’s “Nuestra Belleza Latina” reality TV show kicks off this week, and AT&T Inc. announced that it will AT&T wireless will give the audience the chance to select the most charismatic, intelligent and beautiful Latina.

The highly anticipated show, hosted by popular Univision personality Giselle Blondet, marks the first Latina beauty reality TV competition in the nation. The stellar judging panel includes Osmel Sosa — credited with helping several Venezuelan beauty queens take the coveted Miss Universe crown – but the competition will ultimately be decided by viewers, who will vote each week to select the winner.

After each episode, AT&T wireless customers will have the power to decide the outcome of the show by texting in their votes for their favorite contestant. AT&T Wireless customers also will have exclusive access to alerts about show developments, reminders to vote, gossip, ringtones, wallpapers, show highlights and information about the participants through MEdia Net.

Each week, voting lines will be open for one hour following the show, so viewers can vote for their favorite through each candidate’s individual phone number and texting address, eliminating other contestants. Text voting will be open for two days following each episode, ending every Thursday at midnight.

“Every year, thousands of Hispanic families voice their opinions about beauty finalists in top pageants from their living rooms and we are excited to offer them the option of actually making their opinion count through our voting system,” said Marcus Owen by, director of Hispanic marketing at AT&T’s wireless group, formerly Cingular.

AT&T wireless is a leader in providing the infrastructure for voting on reality TV competitions, including all six seasons of the widely popular American Idol, and pioneered audience voting on Univision’s own talent competition Objetivo Fama, which airs on the TeleFutura Network.

Nuestra Belleza Latina begins with 60 hopefuls who will be whittled down after a suspenseful elimination process to the leading top 12 by the show’s judges. The top 12 finalists will continue on and live together in a beautiful Miami mansion as they face a series of weekly fitness, acting and singing, challenges and work with stylists and make-up artists.

“The show is all about selecting a woman that truly represents what viewers believe to be a true Latina beauty and giving our viewers the ability to choose their favorite contestant is extremely important,” said Blondet.

Blondet is featured in an AT&T wireless commercial for the show and also appears in other TV ads for AT&T.
