StarMedia Brand name will continue as parent company becomes ‘Orange’.

StarMedia, a wholly owned subsidiary of Orange (formerly: Wanadoo, Europe’s second largest online company), a leading global, multi-platform media organization, has announced the re-branding of its parent company. The brand change from Wanadoo to Orange signals the company’s objective to continue making communication simple and accessible to everyone, by bringing them closer to people, information and entertainment they value, so they feel connected, whenever, wherever. StarMedia will maintain its operating brand name, but will incorporate the Orange footer on their website http://www.starmedia.com, as a part of the global re-branding campaign.

“We’re very proud to be preserving our own identity, in view of this major new global branding effort by Orange parent company France Telecom Group,” noted Juan Jose Nunez, StarMedia’s vice president of operations.

“This decision speaks directly to the success and brand loyalty the StarMedia name has come to enjoy,” added Nunez.

StarMedia has been steadily strengthening its brand throughout the Americas by developing the relevance of its content beyond the already impressive array it has been providing through its affiliated companies.

“Beginning in the second quarter of this year, StarMedia users will additionally have access to an exciting new generation of services and content designed to make the online experience easier as well as enjoy the benefits of a cohesive customer experience from our company,” said Nunez.

The Orange brand name was born in the United Kingdom in 1994 as a mobile phone service provider. Orange offered a fresh new identity that created a rational and emotional appeal. Over the past few years, France Telecom Group has been extending the Orange brand beyond mobile to also incorporate mobile, fixed line, internet and TV offers. Orange also serves all sizes of businesses and provides total business communications in 220 countries and territories. In Latin America, Orange currently serves more than 22 million unique monthly users through StarMedia.
