Telemundo prime-time programming on wireless.

Telemundo announced for the first time will make full-length primetime on demand programming available over U.S. wireless networks. The deal is part of larger venture by parent company, NBC Universal’s Digital Distribution and MobiTV, a global leader in mobile and broadband television and music services.

“One of the added benefits of creating our own original programming is that we are well positioned to extend the entertainment experience via a variety of different platforms,” said Peter Blacker, Senior Vice President, Digital Media, Telemundo. “With the growing number of Hispanics joining the digital and wireless space, the timing is ideal to offer our viewers access to their favorite shows anytime, anyplace.”

As part of the deal, a line-up of full-length primetime programs will be offered on MobiTV®, allowing subscribers unlimited access to content on five new ad-supported channels from NBCU, including Telemundo. Telemundo’s content integration with MobiTV will include Novela, Daytime, Sports and News program offerings. Starting in the second quarter, mobile video clips of original productions “Marina,” “Dame Chocolate,” “Decisiones,” and “Cada Dia con María Antonieta” as well as full-length episodes of primetime shows “Pasión de Gavilanes” and “Decisiones” will be available to MobiTV subscribers with unlimited access at no additional cost.

Video clips of “Ritmo Deportivo,” “Titulares Telemundo,” “12 Corazones,” and “Al Rojo Vivo con María Celeste” will be integrated at a later date as part of the second phase of integration. In addition, primetime novelas “El Cuerpo del Deseo” and “Sin Verguenza” are also slated to debut as full-length episodes version in the future.
