Subway & Zumba Fitness join forces at Calle Ocho.

Tens of thousands of Calle Ocho Festival-goers will attempt to break the world record for the largest aerobics display when they take part in the world’s largest Zumba class on Sunday, March 11, at 3 PM. The event is being sponsored by the Subway chain of restaurants to mark the nationwide launch the next day of the new Subway Fresh Fit menu. Subway Fresh Fit(TM) provides healthier, on-the-go meals that complement living a busy and active lifestyle.

“Zumba has joined with Subway Restaurants on this occasion because we are united in a common desire to help change the way America eats and stays active,” said Beto Perez, creator of the Zumba method, a system that has revolutionized the fitness industry and started a worldwide movement with its danceable aerobics routines performed to the tune of upbeat Latin rhythms. “Just like Zumba is proof that exercising can be fun, the new Subway Fresh Fit(TM) menu proves one need not sacrifice taste in order to eat healthier and fight obesity.”

According to the London-based Guinness organization, the current record for the largest aerobics display was set on Feb. 16, 2003, and involved 48,188 participants at Manila’s Luneta Park, in the Philippines.
