Macy’s West launches “Community Star Search’.

Macy’s is searching for the first ever “Community Star.” This search is a celebratory event that recognizes and honors the outstanding work and dedication of women community leaders within the Los Angeles, San Diego and the El Paso metropolitan areas.

“Macy’s Community Star” aims to inspire individuals and organizations to come forward and nominate members, friends, or family members to be recognized as the most influential female leader and role model in their community. “Macy’s rewards and embraces women’s achievements as well as, their contributions to their community and its future. We proudly support the search for the first ever ‘Macy’s Community Star’,” explains Jacqueline Alvarenga, Multicultural Marketing Manager for Macy’s West.

Contestants must be affiliated with a community organization and have made significant contributions in developing programs. The contest seeks to recognize one woman in each city that reflects the brand values of being fun, fresh, fair, friendly, fashionable and who have made significant contributions to their community. This contest is an opportunity to celebrate their efforts, achievements and triumphs.

“Macy’s Community Star” Contest Submission Guidelines

The contest is open to women in the Los Angeles, San Diego and El Paso metropolitan areas who are 18 years of age and older. To enter the contestants must log into www.Macy’sCommunityStar.com between March 1st and 31st. Nominators will be able to submit a 500 word essay explaining why they believe their candidate has what it takes to be a “macys..com/communitystar.” Submissions will only be accepted online and can be made in either English or Spanish, and should include the nominators name, home and email address, and phone number in addition to the nominee’s name, age, city of residence, home/email address and contact number.

One winner will be chosen in each market and will receive a $500.00 Macy’s Gift Card; $1,000 will be donated to her community organization and will be awarded during a private event at a Macy’s store. The winning nominee will be selected by a panel of judges determined by Macy’s. All submissions must be received no later than March 31, 2007 by 11:59 pm.
