USA vs. Mexico delivers + 6M viewers.

Univision’s live telecast of Wednesday night’s highly anticipated soccer match between the national teams of the U.S.A. and Mexico delivered over 6 million viewers, making it the #2 most-watched Spanish-language sportscast in history and beating every Super Bowl game among Hispanic Adults 18-49, Men 18-49 and Total Viewers 2 +.
Compared to last Sunday’s broadcast of Super Bowl XLI, Univision’s coverage of the soccer match resulted in audience advantages, (see chart).
For the entire night (8pm-11pm), Univision was the second largest broadcast network among all Teens 12-17 with 573,000 (beating ABC, CBS, NBC, CW), the third largest broadcast network among all Adults 18-34 with 2,074,000 (beating CBS, NBC, CW), the fourth largest broadcast network among all Adults 18-49 with 3,617,000 (beating NBC, CW) and the fifth largest broadcast network among all Persons 2 + with 5,931,000 (beating CW).
Compared to ESPN2’s P2 + audience (1,091,000) for the English-language broadcast of the match, Univision’s audience (6,131,000) was more than 5 times the size.

Local Market Highlights
· In Los Angeles, nearly 1.2 million viewers watched KMEX-TV’s broadcast of the U.S. versus Mexico match to make it the highest rated program of the night beating out “American Idol” on KTTV-TV, “Lost” on KABC-TV, and “CSI: NY” on KCBS-TV.
· Also in Los Angeles, the match ranked as the #1 rated program of the day among all key Adult and Male demos, while also ranking #1 and #3 among Women 18-34 and Women 18-49.
· It was the #1 ranked program in its time period for Adults 18-49 in Los Angeles and San Francisco, and #2 in Dallas.
· It was the #1 ranked program in its time period among Men 18-49 in Los Angeles, San Francisco, and Dallas, and #2 in New York and Chicago.
