MTV Tr3s to debut ‘DanceLife’.
December 16, 2006
From sound stage to center stage, see what it takes to make it as a professional dancer when MTV premieres the new music reality series, “DanceLife” on Monday, January 15th at 10:30PM (ET/PT). The 8-episode series which featured and is executive produced by Jennifer Lopez, follows the lives of six dancers trying to achieve their dreams and break into the grueling and unforgiving world of professional dance. From auditioning for that key spot in a music video to performing live with top artists, Nelly Furtado and Ashlee Simpson, MTV is there for each dancer’s every move. The glory isn’t always there, but their love for dance is what keeps the drive alive.
Beginning her career as a dancer herself, no one knows the struggle to make it as a professional dancer better than Jennifer Lopez. As executive producer, Jennifer played an integral role in selecting and auditioning the dancers and will make cameo appearances throughout the season. Special guest appearances in “DanceLife” include Ashlee Simpson, Nelly Furtado, Omarion, and the Pussycat Dolls. The series will also feature music by Jennifer Lopez, Robin Thicke, Kelis, Young Love, Platinum Weird, Home Video, The Cloud Room, and Ror-Shak.
In this intensely competitive world of professional dance, MTV viewers will meet the following dream seekers:
Staci
The former Pussycat Doll member who has been dancing professionally for over a decade has performed with Britney Spears, Justin Timberlake, and Christina Aguilera and her film credits include ‘Collateral,’ and ‘Charles Angels II,’ but her career ambitions aren’t limited to dance as she is betting it all on her new CD.
Jersey
The former Philadelphia Eagles Cheerleader and Las Vegas showgirl from no surprise, New Jersey, has trained in everything from acrobatics to ballet, and is hoping that dance will be her ticket to fame and her way out of debt.
Nolan
After teaching himself how to dance by watching Janet Jackson videos, he moved to LA from Wyoming with no car, no connections, no money and a dark past and is hoping his hard work and talent will lead him to a big break and a big paycheck, but for the moment he’s not giving up his day job.
Blake
The Toronto native is quickly becoming one of the most sought after dancers in Hollywood with already a long list of credits including dancing for Madonna, starring in ‘Rent’ and doing commercials for iPod and GAP…only problem is he knows it and he makes sure everyone else does too.
Kenny
The former baseball player from Boston with a “Southey” accent to prove it, got his first big break dancing with Jennifer Lopez and has since danced in videos with Madonna, Mariah Carey and Prince, but he might not make it if he doesn’t get serious and drop his partying antics.
Celestina
With almost no professional training, this striking beauty and natural talent originally from Nigeria has become a music video “It Girl” after recently co-starring in Prince’s ‘Black Sweat’ video. The driven Hip-Hot hottie sees dance as a first step to building her empire.
MTV Tr3s will also be premiering “DanceLife” for the young American Latino audience beginning January 23rd at 5:30PM (ET)/4:30PM (CT).
