Telemundo announced the appointment of Susan Solano to the position of Senior Vice President of Consumer Marketing, based in Miami, Florida, effective immediately. The announcement was made by Antoinette Zel, Senior Executive Vice President of Network Strategy for Telemundo, to whom Solano will report.
“Susan has played a vital role in the development and growth of our brand for the last 16 years,” said Zel. “Her creativity, professionalism and extensive knowledge of the U.S. Hispanic market and Spanish-language media are a huge value to the Marketing Department and the network as a whole.”
In her new role, Solano will be the strategic, creative guide responsible for the overall definition, execution, and implementation of marketing strategies and tactics for the Telemundo broadcast network brand and programming properties. Solano is charged with generating off-air and online marketing strategies including but not limited to events, advertising and media planning, station collaboration, and contests/sweepstakes.
Solano joined Telemundo in 1991 as Media Manager to establish a new in-house advertising department. After holding various executive level marketing posts, Solano was promoted to Vice President of Marketing in 1998 where she was responsible for all areas of the Miami-based creative services team, promotions and publicity departments while managing all marketing activities with Telemundo’s affiliate stations nationwide.
Prior to her role at Telemundo, Solano was at Lintas: Latina where she was instrumental in the creation of multi-media campaigns in the U.S. Hispanic, Latin American and Caribbean markets for companies such as Cola-Cola Foods, Nestle, and National Car Rental.
