Lopez Negrete Communications conceptualized and organized a television special for client Wal-Mart and Latin Grammy nominees RBD, that aired on Univision Network on Thanksgiving day. The concert was filmed at the Toyota Center in Houston to a sell-out crowd. RBD’s third in-studio album “Celestial”.
“It is our job to find meaningful, relevant ways to connect the Hispanic consumer to our client’s products and services – this project is a perfect example of that.” says CEO and President of Lopez Negrete Communications, Alex López Negrete. “The latest NPD research confirms that Wal-Mart is in the number one spot above all other retailers when it comes to where Latinos choose to purchase their music, so it made perfect senses to pair them up with music sensation RBD. This project is a piece of a much larger, fully integrated puzzle for Wal-Mart and its business goals. We’re very proud to have this centerpiece project take place in our hometown of Houston, Texas.”
Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. was responsible for bringing the group to Houston to perform songs from their soon-to-be-released albums “Celestial”and “Rebels,” for the first time on American soil. The music group has garnered crossover appeal due to the huge fan following of the Televisa-produced, youth-oriented telenovela “Rebelde,” which airs nationally on Univision Network. RBD sold out in record time and broke attendance records at the Toyota Center for a musical group on a typically tough day to sell – Monday night.
“At Wal-Mart, our customers represent diverse groups across the nation. We recognize that music is a universal connection for the more than 150 million people that shop our stores every week,” said David Porter, Wal-Mart vice president of entertainment. “By making this special RBD concert accessible to consumers, we have the opportunity to give back to the millions of Latino customers that we serve.”
RBD recently taped another special performance, this time for Wal-Mart’s innovative online music video site “Soundcheck.” The special performance takes viewers behind the scenes with intimate interviews and a performance on Soundcheck’s “digital stage.” The online RBD special can be viewed by visiting http://soundcheck.walmart.com
