Edu-Comic books can Pack a Real Punch!

Los Kitos Entertainment, LLC has developed a series of Edu-comic books to bring important information on education and health to the parents and children of the Hispanic community in a straightforward, communicative, and effective bilingual format.

Los Kitos Entertainment, LLC (Los Kitos), in partnership with non-profit organizations such as the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers (SHPE), Well-Point Foundation and corporations like P&G and Wal-Mart have created a series of Edu-comic books that touch our community and are also relevant to our culture. From “Adventures in Engineering,” on topics such as nuclear and biomedical engineering to “Steps to Success for you and your Family“ or “Healthy Habits for a Healthy Family,“ the comic book format helps to have the individual absorb the concept and information much faster.

“ We hope to spark the interest of our youth by bringing engineering in an educational and entertaining media” said Diana L. Gomez, Electrical Engineer and SHPE National President. Additionally, Los Kitos worked with WellPoint Foundation to bring information about utilizing the Doctor so the community avoids the over usage of the emergency rooms. “Our community should be addressed in a respectful, yet concise format and edu-comic books are one of the strongest formats so we can accomplish that“ comments Martha Montoya, President and creator of Los Kitos, “storytelling is one of the greatest assets passed on to our community and what we are doing is using this form of expression to convey a mainstream message mix with new traditions.“ Los Kitos has developed a relationship with the community, through grassroots efforts based on our bilingualism and biculturalism, which provides first hand feedback from the community it intends to serve to create products and services that meet their needs. Some of the educomic books:

– Orange County Business Council/United Way, and now distributed through the White House Initiative in Education, “10 Steps for success for your and your family” was created as a cornerstone to deliver a positive message and gentle feedback to Orange County immigrant parents and their families. These hands-on steps are designed to support them in to be better advocates for their children’s education and also to learn how to navigate the educational system.

– P& G “A Hero is missing“ presents the temptations kids face these days with electronic gadgets that do not encourage exercise and propose a peer solution to the issue.

– The Wal-mart Ecology centerfold edu-comic in the Viviendo magazine provides a bridge of passing on knowledge for today’s kids to understand the importance of taking care of nature. About Los Kitos
