El Diario La Prensa hosted the 3rd Annual “El” Awards.

El Diario La Prensa in New York hosted the 3rd Annual “El” Awards in the Grand Havana Room in New York. The “El” Awards were first produced in 2004 to recognize Latinos who are high achievers in their chosen fields and who also give back to the community. Attended by 100 distinguished Latino New Yorkers, the award program honored 22 Latino leaders.

Rossana Rosado, publisher and CEO of El Diario La Prensa, stated, “This year’s awards recipients are teachers, business people, medical professionals, sports heroes – in fact there are representatives from all walks of life.” She added, “Most people go about their lives doing the best they can and giving back to the community along the way, without looking for praise and recognition. These unsung heroes are the reason why we developed the ‘El’ Awards.”

The 3rd Annual El Awards were sponsored by Con Edison, Bronx-Lebanon Hospital Center, Staples and GlobalHue. Award winners will be featured in a special 24-page supplement which will be distributed in the Sunday, November 5th, edition that has a circulation of more than 81,000. Established in 1913, El Diario La Prensa is the oldest Spanish-language newspaper in the United States. With a quarter million readers a day, it the most widely read Spanish-language newspaper in New York and the third largest in the country.
