Telemundo re-starts production of ‘Quinceañera’.
September 30, 2006
Telemundo announced it has restarted production of its show “Quinceañera.” After a month-long hiatus, the network has built a new set featuring Miami’s beautiful skyline as backdrop to tape the show’s last three episodes; building up to its grand finale to be taped in front of a live audience on Saturday, October 28. The show is a Telemundo Network original production with Nostromo América as Executive Producers.
“We are thrilled about restarting ‘Quinceañera’s’ production here in Miami,” said Patricio Wills, President, Telemundo-RTI and head of Production, Telemundo Studios. “Telemundo has demonstrated its vast capability as a producer and commitment to its audience by moving this show’s production from Mexico to Miami in record time without any interruption in its schedule.”
The two-hour grand finale special will feature guest appearances by various Telemundo personalities including Gabriela Spanic, Miguel Varoni, Itatí Cantoral, Michel Brown, Ivonne Montero, Sergio Catalán, Lilibeth Morillo, and Aylin Mujica, among others.
As previously reported, on September 22nd, 2006, the production of “Quinceañera” was interrupted when TVAzteca broke into Estudios Ajusco with a contingent of TV Azteca’s personnel supported by bodyguards and as many as 40 police officers who, according to eye witness accounts, came in cars without license plates, to forcibly block the show’s further taping.
A Telemundo original-concept presented at the May 2005 Upfront, “Quinceañera” features talented 14-year-old young women and their mothers competing for the grand prize of a 15th birthday party and a talent agreement with Telemundo. The show began airing on August 26th, and can be seen in the United States from 7 pm to 9 pm on Telemundo’s network on Saturday nights. There were only three shows left to tape in Mexico when TV Azteca forcibly shut the production down.
