Little People ¡Cantemos en Español! goes Platinum.

Fisher-Price has announced that the Spanish-language recording of the Little People album ¡Cantemos en Español! has earned a Disco de Platino (Platinum) award from the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) for selling more than 200,000 copies in the United States in 2005.

Platino certification is calculated based on the previous year’s sales and returns. The RIAA, the trade group that represents the U.S. recording industry, established the Los Premios de Oro y Platino award program to celebrate Latin music sales. Spanish-language albums go Platinum when they sell more than 200,000 copies nationwide.

“At any age, music is a great way for parents to enrich the listening skills of their child and encourage self-expression as they move or sing to a new beat,” said Brenda Andolina, Director, Public Relations and Brand Marketing for Fisher-Price. “¡Cantemos en Español! features fun characters and songs familiar to Spanish-speaking children and at the same time is a way for non-Spanish-speaking children to discover another culture and language through music. We’re thrilled that the number of families who are enjoying the CD has enabled it to reach Platino status.”

¡Cantemos en Español! features 20 popular children’s songs from Latin America and Mexico, including “Los Elefantes,” “De Colores,” “La Víbora de la Mar,” “Pin Pon,” “Los Pollitos” “La Rueda de San Miguel,” “¡Dale, Dale, Dale!” and “Arroz con Leche.” Real children sing the songs on the Little People album, which has a play time of 47:26
