Industry leaders to discuss Hispanic TV at the crossroads.

Top TV and video executives from broadcast, cable, satellite, broadband and telephony as well as leaders from advertising and related businesses will be meeting Wednesday afternoon, October 18 and Thursday morning, October 19 at the famed Copacabana in New York City at a conference designed to discuss the state-of-the-industry of Hispanic Television. The fourth annual Hispanic Television Summit, an “only-one-of-its-kind” conference, is presented by the Reed Television Group, publishers of Multichannel News and Broadcasting & Cable magazines.

The Summit has been scheduled this year to correspond with the Thursday evening, formal banquet and presentation of the Leaders of Spanish Language Television Awards by the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences (NATAS). Known as the Latin Emmy Awards, the ceremony will honor six of the top television personalities in Spanish language television with the coveted Emmy Award.

The theme of the Summit is “Hispanic Television: Generating Revenue at the Crossroads”. Timely topics that place the Hispanic Television industry at a crossroads will be addressed, such as: the effect of new ownership of networks; cable TV systems “trading spaces” and thus creating mega-systems in major Latino markets; as well as new video technologies that are generating sub-segments within the increasingly bi-cultural Latino audience.

In addition, Summit attendees will hear more about the new “Latino Identity” – adopted by the Association of Hispanic Advertising Agencies (AHAA) – and how this will affect decisions by programmers, subscription marketers, and advertisers, plus the “World Cup Effect” and its influence on TV rights fees and increasing ad-spend.

The program features keynote presentations by

” Lynne Costantini, Senior Vice President & Chief Business Affairs Officer, Time Warner Cable
” Don Garber, Commissioner, Major League Soccer (MLS)
” Antoinette Alfonso Zel, Senior Executive Vice President, Network Strategy, Telemundo Networks.

Additionally, there are special presentations on the State of Hispanic Television, such as:

” “The Financial Perspective”, presented by: Leland “Lee” Westerfield, Managing Director, Media Analyst, BMO Capital Markets

” “The Historical Perspective”, presented by: Arturo Villar, Publisher, Hispanic Market Weekly

” “The Talent Perspective”, presented by Raul Mateu, Sr. Vice President & Managing Director of the William Morris Agency in Miami and Peter Price, President and CEO of the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences

In addition, there will be six (6) general sessions featuring topics on Advertising and Audience Measurement, Subscription Marketing, Distribution & Syndication, Programming, Promotions and a special roundtable discussion featuring top marketers from four of the leading cable TV operators – Cablevision, Comcast, Cox and Time Warner!
