Galavisión delivers highest audience in 2005-2006 season.

Galavisión announced that in the 2005-2006 season it delivered its highest audience ever in the network’s history for Total Day and Primetime. During this season, the cable network was #1 in Primetime regardless of language among Hispanic Adults 18-34 and 18-49 and Hispanic Men 18-34 and 18-49.

Galavisión posted significant audience increases from last season among Adults 18-34 ( plus 13%) and 18-49 (plus 8%) in Total Day, and Adults 18-34 (plus 25%) and 18-49 (plus 27%) in Primetime. Galavisión has long been well established as the #1 Spanish-language cable network in the nation and 2005-2006 marks the fourth consecutive season that the network has also ranked as the #1 cable network in any language among Hispanic Adults 18-34 and Hispanic Men 18-34 during Primetime. Galavisión is also the leader in distribution among Spanish-language cable networks reaching 81% (7.1 million) of U.S. Hispanic cable homes, 3 million more homes than its nearest competitor.

“We couldn’t be more pleased with our success this season,” said Joanne Lynch, Senior Vice President and General Manager, Galavisión. “Our new primetime programming lineup was an integral part of this year’s outstanding growth in audience levels, up 21% from last year, helping us achieve broadcast-like numbers. Additionally, we had a major increase in distribution which allows us to reach more viewers and deliver on our promise to connect Hispanic America to the news, sports and entertainment that matter most.”

The cable network continued to entertain viewers with its highest rated program, “El Chavo”, the classic comedy airing Mon-Fri 6pm ET/PT. The program outperformed Telemundo during the same time period among Females 12-17 (plus 6%), 12-24 (plus 30%), and 18-34 (plus 7%).

Galavisión brought soccer fans exclusive coverage of the 2005 FIFA U-17 Soccer Tournament. Airing in the fourth quarter, the tournament was the highest rated sports event in the history of Spanish-language cable television. Additionally, the final match held on October 2, 2005, was the #1 program in its time period beating all Spanish-language television, cable or broadcast, by delivering 1.1 million Adults 18-49.

New Primetime Shows are a Hit
— “En Profundidad” (In-Depth), a monthly news magazine, is one of Galavisión’s top rated programs among Adults, Men and Women 18-49.

— “Acceso Maximo” (All Access), the network’s first live, interactive show, is posting sizeable audience growth to its time period among Adults 18-34 (plus 7%), Women 18-34 (plus 43%) and A18-49 (plus 10%).

— “El Rastro del Crimen” (The Trail of the Crime), a weekly crime investigation series, ranks among Galavision’s top 10 programs and delivered double-digit audience growth among Adults 18-34 (plus 23%) and 18-49 (plus 36%).
