Victor Del Corral of Victor’s Café passed away.
July 21, 2006
For all those agency, media and US Hispanic market professionals that enjoyed Victor’s cafe in New York and Miami, we all know that Victor was a true example of fulfilling the real American dream. Having arrived in New York in 1956, Victor introduced the concept of an evening of dining to New York’s upper West side, at a reasonable cost. He introduced America to Cuba’s staple dish of Rice and Beans, which became an immediate favorite with the New York public. He later moved the restaurant, in 1980 to its current address in the heart of the theatre district, where it still stands today at 236 West 52nd Street as a New York landmark.
The walls of Victor’s Café are graced with pictures of US Presidents, as well as the who’s who in the entertainment, political, and sports arenas, and continues to be a favorite among celebrities.
Victor leaves behind his beloved wife Eloina, his daughter Sonia, who now heads his empire along with her daughter Natalia, who runs the New York establishment and Monica y Luis two other grandchildren.
We already miss this great creative, innovative, pleasant and very funny man, who came to America as an immigrant, and has provided such a positive and successful role model image.
