Fisher Communications, Inc. to acquire Univision affiliates in Eastern Washington.

Fisher Communications, Inc. announced that its wholly-owned subsidiary, Fisher Broadcasting Company (“Fisher”) entered into a Local Marketing Agreement with WatchTV, Inc. to manage four of their television stations located in Eastern Washington. The stations include KKFQ-CA in Yakima, KVVK-CA in Kennewick, KWWA-CA in Ellensburg, and KORX-CA in Walla-Walla. The stations currently provide Spanish-language programming to the Yakima-Pasco-Richland-Kennewick television market through an affiliation with Univision.

Contemporaneously with the Local Marketing Agreement, Fisher entered into an Option Agreement with WatchTV, whereby Fisher has the right to acquire the stations at a fixed price until June 30, 2007.

“These stations allow us to leverage our current resources in this market with our CBS-affiliated stations while serving the fast-growing Hispanic population of Eastern Washington,” stated Joe Lovejoy, Vice President, 100 Group. According to Nielsen Media Research, Yakima-Pasco-Richland-Kennewick is Designated Market Area #126 as ranked by total television households, but #48 as ranked by Hispanic households.

Colleen Brown, President and Chief Executive Officer of Fisher added, “This announcement builds on our efforts to partner with Univision to become the dominant Spanish-language broadcaster throughout the Pacific Northwest.”
