Telemundo posts best 2Q in its history.

Telemundo announced it posted its strongest June performance ever in Monday through Friday prime (M-F, 7-11PM) among Adults 18-49 (A18-49), averaging a 3.8 rating/771,000, a 52% gain over June ’05 (2.5 rating), and a 27 share of the audience watching the three major Spanish-language broadcast networks. In the younger demo of Adults 18-34 (A18-34) the network averaged a 3.4 rating/430,000 and a 24 share, up 42% over the same month last year (2.4 rating). These results continue to solidify Telemundo’s position as the fastest growing network among Hispanic adults in the U.S. June marks the ninth consecutive month of year-to-year growth in weekday primetime among these coveted demos for the network; making the second quarter of 2006 Telemundo’s best second quarter ever in its history.
“Our best June comes on the heels of our best May and the results underline the strength and consistency of our performance,” said Don Browne, President, Telemundo. “Our commitment to producing original, relevant programming for our audience has been rewarded by their response in solidifying our position as the fastest growing Spanish-language broadcast network.”
Some of the primetime highlights include:
“La Tormenta” delivered its best monthly performance yet, averaging a 3.6 rating/736,000 in A18-49, showing 64% growth over the same time period last year (2.2). “La Tormenta” averaged a 3.3 rating/414,000 in A18-34, showing 43% growth over the same time period in 2005.
At 8PM, “Tierra de Pasiones” averaged a 4.0 rating/824,000 in A18-49 and a 3.4 rating/429,000 in A18-34, a 33% and 17% increase respectively over the same time period last year.
In its premiere month, “Amores de Mercado” averaged a 3.8 rating/779,000 in A18-49, an increase of 41% over the same time period last year (2.7). Among A18-34, the novela delivered a 3.8 rating /482,000, up 46% over last year (2.6). Compared to last month, “Amores de Mercado” improved the time period’s performance 9% in A18-49 and 15% in A18-34.
In the 10PM timeslot, “Decisiones” averaged a 4.0 rating /806,000 in A18-49, nearly doubling its ratings in the same time period a year ago (2.1). “Decisiones” also registered impressive growth in A18-34 with a rating of 3.8/483,000, up 81% from June’05 (2.1).
Local Markets:
Telemundo’s local owned and operated stations also registered outstanding results in June’06. In Los Angeles, Telemundo’s KVEA– Ch. 52’s primetime average in A18-49 went up 21% vs. last year, achieving a 14 share of M-F prime. WNJU-Ch.47, Telemundo’s station in New York, registered a 50 share of the A18-49 audience after a 29% year-to-year increase in its primetime ratings; solidifying the station’s #1 position in the market in primetime. Telemundo Chicago, WSNS-Ch.44, achieved a 17 share of M-F prime. Miami’s WSCV-Ch.51 held its #1 position in the market among Hispanic households in M-F prime with a 25% ratings increase vs. June 05, and a 38 share. San Antonio’s KVDA-Ch. 60 increased its Hispanic household ratings by 52% vs. June 05, garnering a 19 share of M-F prime.
