TuTv launches Spanish VOD movie package.

TuTv, a Grupo Televisa and Univision Communications joint venture, announced that a VOD package of 100 Spanish-language movies will be made available to those cable operators and satellite distributors who carry the TuTv channels. Cox Communications will be the first distributor to offer the movies, which TuTv will start transmitting as of August 2006. TuTv has selected TVN Entertainment to provide encoding, asset management and distribution services.

Carlos Madrazo, Chief Financial Officer of TuTv stated, “Distributors have repeatedly asked us for VOD programming for the Latino audience. We are now offering to the U.S. Hispanic pay TV audience movies from Grupo Televisa’s library, the world’s largest Spanish-language film library. This movie package will be a big addition to the existing supply and will help when it comes to signing up Hispanic subs.”

Chris Fager, President of TuTv stated, “We know this package meets a growing appetite among Hispanic digital subscribers and is a testament to our interest in partnering with distributors to reach more subscribers.”
