Over the course of the season, the contestant pool was narrowed down to six talented finalists, and yesterday the competition culminated with the naming of this season’s winner.
Finalists Aileen Rosario sang “La tecnocumbia,” from Selena; Vérmex Bilboat performed “No me conoces,” from Marc Anthony; Tairon Aguilera sang “Secretos de Amor,” from Joan Sebastian; Blanca Rosa Borroto sang “Amor Eterno,” from Rocío Durcal; Melina Almodóvar sang “Valió la Pena,” from Marc Anthony, and Juan Manuel Aranguren performed “Hasta Ayer,” also from popular singer Marc Anthony.
Prior to announcing the winner, special Jury, Carolina La O, sang “Dime Dime,” showing why she’s considered one of the best Colombian singers in the world. After Carolina’s performance, host Ileana García crowned Tairon Aguilera “the best karaoke singer in South Florida,” awarding him with $5,000.
The audience gave a standing ovation to the young Venezuelan who humbly thanked Ileana, the other contestants and everybody in the crowd for all the support he’d been given over the course of the exhilarating season.
The season finale began on a high note when host Ileana Garcia welcomed former contestant Barbara Ramos “Barbarita Tun tun”, to the stage. Barbara opened the program by performing “El Guaba,” from Celia Cruz, delighting the audience and warming up the crowd up for a very exciting and intense finale.
