Coors Light celebrates Mexican Team Chivas de Guadalajara 100th Anniversary at the LA Coliseum.

Coors Light celebrates the centennial anniversary of Mexico’s most beloved soccer team, Club Deportivo de Guadalajara S.A. de C.V.

(Chivas de Guadalajara), by presenting the Coors Light Torneo Del Centenario. The tournament kicks off in Los Angeles where Chivas de Guadalajara squares off against Spanish soccer league champions and UEFA European Cup champions, FC Barcelona, on Sunday, August 6, 2006, at the LA Coliseum. The international match will begin at 6:30 p.m. and is the second game of a doubleheader following an MLS match between Chivas USA and New England Revolution starting at 4 p.m.

“This will be the most exciting match to be played on U.S. soil in 2006, and it’s an honor for us to be a part of Chivas’ 100-year anniversary,” said Paul Mendieta, director of Hispanic marketing for Coors Brewing Company. “Coors Light is proud to bring this international game to soccer fans in America just a few weeks after the conclusion of the World Cup.”

The game in LA marks the beginning of the fourth annual Coors Light Chivas de Guadalajara Soccer Tournament. Since 2002, the Coors Light tournament has presented Chivas matches against Santos Laguna, Pachuca, Cruz Azul, Boca Juniors and archrival Club America in the popular El Clasico de Clasicos. Additional 2006 Coors Light Torneo Del Centenario tournament matches will be announced at a later date.
