Univision Communications Inc unveiled the TeleFutura Network’s exciting new programming line up for the 2006-2007 season at the network’s annual Upfront presentation in New York’s Lincoln Center. Celebrating its fifth anniversary this season, TeleFutura’s total day viewership has demonstrated tremendous gains among Adults 18-49 and 18-34 since the network’s launch in 2002. With a median age of 34, TeleFutura attracts one of the youngest and most vibrant primetime audiences in broadcast television.
“Today, we presented an exciting programming slate that capitalizes on the strength of our counter programming strategy,” said Bert Medina, Senior Vice President and Operating Manager of the TeleFutura Network. “Celebrating our fifth anniversary, TeleFutura is poised for a strong ’06-07 season with the premiere of two originally produced novelas, ‘Por Amor’ and ‘La Marca del Deseo,’ as well as the exciting new game show ‘¿Qué dice la Gente?,’ the new U.S. produced Spanish-language version of ‘Family Feud’, the Spanish-language broadcast of blockbuster movies like ‘Spiderman,’ and ‘El Reventón del 4 de Julio,’ the biggest Independence Day celebration on Spanish-language television.”

Novelas
TeleFutura is home to the best in family-oriented novelas, and the 2006-2007 season continues this tradition, bringing more smash hits to the lineup.
“Por Amor” is the worldwide premiere of a spectacular production, telling the story of a kind-spirited young girl from the countryside who is wrongfully accused of deceit by her beloved. She then turns vengeful, forsaking love for success in the business world, until realizing that true happiness can only be found with an open heart. (Monday-Friday, 6:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. ET/PT)
“La Marca Del Deseo” rounds out the primetime lineup with this powerful novela about a somewhat complicated, but dysfunctional family. It’s a story about what happens when a family tree sprouts new limbs. (Monday-Friday, 10:00 p.m. – 11:00 p.m. ET/PT)
Movies
“Cine de las Estrellas” makes every night a movie night on TeleFutura. Each night brings a different hit in primetime from the largest, most complete film library ever assembled for Spanish-language television. The entertainment continues through weekends as well, with “Cineplex” airing blockbuster movies featuring the biggest stars in Hollywood. Titles scheduled for next year include “Spiderman,” “Hidalgo,” “Stuart Little,” “The Alamo,” “Agent Cody Banks,” and “Hero,” among others. “El Reventón Del 4 De Julio” is the biggest 4th of July bash on Spanish-language television. Hosted by the zany crew of “Escándalo TV,” a dazzling display of celebrity fireworks will explode live from Miami Beach and via satellite from Los Angeles, New York, Chicago, San Antonio, and Mexico. “Copa America” the soccer championship of South America is one of the oldest and most hotly contested tournaments in the world, predating even the World Cup. With live coverage from host country Venezuela, TeleFutura will bring the excitement home to U.S. Hispanic soccer fans. (June 26 – July 15, 2007)
“Copa Oro” TeleFutura covers all the action in this soccer championship of North and Central America and the Caribbean, featuring 12 teams including Mexico and the U.S., competing in matches in six U.S. cities. (June 6-24, 2007)
“International Friendlies” will showcase many of the world’s top national teams facing off against some of the most popular professional club teams, featuring some of the biggest superstars of soccer. TeleFutura will be the exclusive Spanish-language home to five of the most exciting soccer matches to be played in the largest U.S. Hispanic markets all year.
“Major League Soccer Game of the Week” will showcase 25 of the best U.S. professional soccer matches, plus the MLS All-Star game, MLS Cup Final, and will feature some of Hispanic soccer fans’ favorite teams, including Chivas USA (Los Angeles), LA Galaxy, Red Bull New York, Chicago Fire, Houston Dynamo, FC Dallas, and DC United. “CONCACAF Champions League” patterned after the highly successful UEFA Champions League and featuring the top club teams from the Mexican Primera Division and Major League Soccer, the tournament will be televised exclusively on TeleFutura, with 33 live matches including all quarterfinals, semifinals, and the big final game. “COPA Interliga” is a 14-game tournament featuring the top eight Mexican Primera Division teams which serves to qualify two teams for the Copa Libertadores. (January 3 – 14, 2007)
“FIFA Women’s World Cup” is a wildly popular soccer tournament featuring the top 16 teams in the world, including Mexico, Brazil, Germany, Norway, Sweden, USA and host country China. (September 10 – 30, 2007)
“FIFA World Youth Championship” is the biannual World Cup for the top men’s under-20 national team squads. Twenty-four teams will earn the right to compete in this highly anticipated tournament that highlights some of the biggest up-and-coming superstars of the future in 52 matches over 23 days that will take place in Canada.
