Discovery Networks US Hispanic Group announced that it is increasing relevance and choice for U.S. Hispanic viewers with the creation of 12 unique, real-world programming genres that are now available across the division’s portfolio of three networks, Discovery en Español, Discovery Travel & Living (Viajar y Vivir) and Discovery Kids en Español. The 12 genres offer targeted environments for advertisers to reach specific demographics and interests within the U.S. Spanish-speaking audience.
“Discovery is going beyond the limited programming options currently available to U.S. Hispanics to provide this underserved audience with the highest-quality real-world content,” said Luis Silberwasser, senior vice president and general manager of Discovery Networks US Hispanic Group. “The 12 culturally relevant programming genres offered across our three Hispanic networks provide new viewing choices for Latino audiences and also deliver customized environments for advertisers to more effectively engage the increasingly important U.S. Hispanic consumer.”
Discovery Networks US Hispanic Group has created an innovative programming approach that provides advertisers with a more targeted strategy to reach U.S. Hispanic consumers, including integrated sponsorship. Content offered on the three networks has been grouped into core genres tailored to the needs and interests of specific demographics within the U.S. Hispanic community, including men, women, children and young families. Each genre features original programming developed specifically for Spanish-speaking audiences in addition to some of the best Discovery content from around the world, which has been edited and “transcreated” for U.S. Hispanic audiences.

Exclusive original content that has been created specifically for U.S. Latino audiences includes Objetivo: El Norte,the first original production developed by Discovery Networks US Hispanic Group, which provides a compelling examination of the fierce immigration debate currently raging across the United States. The one-hour documentary premieres on Discovery en Español on Sunday, May 21 at 9:00 PM ET/PT, with encore showings airing on Wednesday, May 24, at 9:00 PM ET/PT and Saturday, May 27, at 7:00 PM ET/PT.
