Telemundo acquires rights to produce ‘Loteria’.

Telemundo announced it has partnered with Rivas & Rivas, one of Chile’s largest film and TV producers, to produce its successful format “Loteria.” The series is currently being taped at Telemundo Studios in Miami, Fl with the participation of a stellar cast in the style of the network’s successful nightly series “Decisiones.” “Loteria” airs every Saturday at 7:30pm / 6:30pm central.

Directed by David Posada (“El Cuerpo del Deseo”) and with Executive Producer, Aurelio Valcarcel, “Loteria” is a fresh and entertaining show that explores how a little bit of luck can change our life.

“After the success obtained with ‘Decisiones’ we decided to acquire this successful format from Rivas & Rivas to expand the series genre,” said Patricio Wills, Head of Production and president of Telemundo-RTI. “Everyone dreams of winning the lottery some day and with this show we hope to offer high-quality entertainment to our viewers by exploring what could happen if that dream actually came true.”

“La Vida es una Loteria” has been highly acclaimed in Chile, airing continuously for four seasons and currently going into its fifth (to premiere in 3Q 2006). By selling this format to Telemundo, Rivas & Rivas has become the first Chilean producer to build this kind of partnership with an original product.

“This deal gives us the opportunity to compete internationally and opens the door to sell the format in other key markets in Latin America and other parts of the world. This is a great step forward for our company after creating this format along ‘Loteria de Concepcion’ in the year 2000,” said Warner.
