Univision KTVW 33 continues winning streak in Phoenix.

Univision KTVW 33 was the most watched station during the February 2006 sweeps ranking number one among Adults 18-49, according to recently released Nielsen Station Index ratings. Univision was also number one among Adults 18-34, Adults 18-49 and number two among Adults 25-54 in total weekly viewing. Univision’s viewing audience among Adults 18-34 more than doubled that of NBC.

“We are delighted that Univision is number one in Phoenix for a seventh consecutive sweep,” said Jose Luis Padilla, General Manager at Univision 33. “Phoenix is the second-fastest growing Hispanic market in the U.S. and Univision is benefiting from this tremendous growth.”

The 2006 sweeps period also marks the 16th time that Univision ranks first among Adults 18-34, women and men in total weekly viewing. Adults 18-49 attract more advertising dollars than any other group of people in America, and Univision has been number one in this demo for the past seven sweeps.

More than any other factor, Univision’s ratings success can be attributed to the consistency of quality programming it delivers. Univision offers first-run programming throughout the year in mornings, daytime and prime, as opposed to most other networks that air re-runs when sweeps are finished.

In daytime, Univision delivers a 2.1 rating among Adults 18-49, tripling the viewers of the second highest rated network, NBC, who earned a 0.7. Univision’s 4 pm news magazine, “Primer Impacto” (First Impact), scored a 3.2 with Adults 18-49, nearly doubling second ranked KTVK’s “Inside Edition” which earned a 1.7 rating. Univision’s 5 pm news program, “Noticias 33”, is number one among Adults 18-34, 18-49 and 25-54. “Noticias 33” delivered a remarkable 5.0 rating with Adults 18-34, while the second ranked news, “Good Evening AZ”, on KTVK, got a 1.3.

In prime, Univision leads the city among Adults 18-34, earning an impressive 7.2 rating. Univision took eight of the 20 highest rated programs among Adults 18-34 in the February 2006 sweeps and beat out the highest rated Olympic program on NBC, which ranked 24th. “Premio lo Nuestro” (Latin music awards program) delivered an amazing 283,000 total viewers, beating out CBS’s “Grammy Awards” by 22,000 viewers. When most other award shows are showing dramatic losses in ratings, “Premio Lo Nuestro” has increased its household viewing. In addition, Univision’s 6 pm novela, “Piel de Otoño” (Autumn Love), was a runaway leader among Adults 18-49, delivering 95,000 viewers, compared to the second rated “Entertainment Tonight” which earned 54,000.
