NY Latinos featured in New Verizon ad effort.

Verizon Wireless is reaching out to the New York Metro area’s growing Hispanic population this month with a new Spanish-language advertising campaign featuring man-on-the street testimonials from local Latino customers describing why they chose the company’s trustworthy network.

Focused on what Verizon Wireless’ service means to the lives of Latinos living in the New York Metro and Greater Philadelphia areas, the integrated campaign entitled “Confiable” or “Reliable” will roll-out across multiple media including spot and direct response television, radio, print, out of home and direct marketing. Television spots will air on Univision, Telemundo and Telefutura stations in the New York and Philadelphia markets.

Featuring New York Latinos from all walks of life, the customers featured in the spots represent different Latino nationalities including Puerto Rican, Dominican, Mexican, Colombian and Ecuadorian.

“Like all consumers, New York area Latinos want a wireless provider that offers service they can count on to work no matter when or where they travel, ” said Charles Hand, president of Verizon Wireless’ New York Metro Region. “What better way to convey our message of reliability than to ask local customers share their own positive experiences with Verizon Wireless service.

“Our goal is to make all customers feel comfortable doing business with us and to help Spanish-speaking customers get the best value from Verizon Wireless products and services,” Hand said. “More than 35 percent of all employees hired in the New York Metro area last year speak both Spanish and English. Over the past three years these and other efforts have resulted in a significant increase in our Spanish-language customer base which has grown six fold since 2003.”

The new campaign, developed by New York-based advertising agency Latinvox, coincides with the company’s expansion of Spanish-language services including bilingual bill payment kiosks in Verizon Wireless Communications Stores to make bill payments faster and more convenient for customers who prefer to pay their bills in person. In addition, the company continues to add new and exciting Latin content at its popular Get it Now® virtual store including ringtones, ring-back-tones, games and exclusive V CAST music-on-demand selections including Shakira, Celia Cruz, Marc Anthony, Luis Fonsi and more.
