La Opinión receives the José Ortega y Gasset award from Spain’s distinguished El País newspaper.

The Lozano Family, founders of La Opinión, will receive the prestigious José Ortega y Gasset award, the most influential award in Spanish-language journalism from Spain’s El País newspaper, in Madrid on May 4.
The José Ortega y Gasset award was created to acknowledge outstanding individuals for their journalistic contributions and influential professional careers. El País newspaper is honoring
La Opinión for its pioneering trajectory over eighty years creating and maintaining an unprecedented media outlet for the growing Hispanic population in the United States. El País is the most reputable daily newspaper in Spain and is part of PRISA Group, one of the most revered communications groups in the world.

To commemorate El País’ 30th anniversary, the José Ortega y Gasset awards are also acknowledging investigative journalists and photojournalists. The award panel was comprised of writers, journalists, the director of the French daily El Monde and former directors of El País.
