Ricky Martin Performs Before Nearly a Billion People Worldwide.

The 2006 Olympic Winter Games ended in glory as Ricky Martin performed for a sold out stadium in Turin, Italy and a worldwide television audience of close to a billion people. Fireworks rained and confetti fell over the stadium as athletes rushed the stage to dance to the international superstar’s classic hit “Cup of Life,” along with “I Don’t Care” off his latest album, LIFE from Columbia records.

The theme of the evening was Carnevale, the circus-like Venetian inspired festival celebrated throughout Italy over the weekend, and many athletes and fans wore red clown noses or masks to celebrate.

Early this year, after four years away from the stage, Puerto Rican born singer and UNICEF Ambassador, Ricky Martin, kicked off the U.S. leg of his triumphant world tour ONE NIGHT ONLY, which took him to 18 major U.S. cities.

The Los Angeles Times called Martin’s show “visually dazzling and physically demanding” and The Houston Chronicle said “for two hours, the Puerto Rican heartthrob danced, kicked, flirted and sang with impressive abandon.”

The concert, based on an innovative concept created by Martin, was different from all of his previous shows in that it incorporated a mix of eclectic, global influences from Latin, Asian, European, and Indian cultures.

Martin began his worldwide tour in Latin America in November where he visited Mexico, Panama, El Salvador, Venezuela, Ecuador, Colombia, Brazil, Argentina, Chile and Uruguay.
