Raya – Deputy Editor/Style @ Tu Ciudad.

Tu Ciudad Magazine announced Anna Lisa Raya as its Deputy Editor/Style.

Raya’s primary duties are to manage style content, conceptualize fashion stories and photo shoots, feature up-and-coming designers, and forecast fashion and beauty trends that will pique readers’ interest.

“There’s a reason why some of this country’s greatest fashion designers are Latino: Oscar de la Renta, Carolina Herrera, Narciso Rodriguez; their work embodies an elegance and vitality that is inherent in Latino culture,” said Raya. “Los Angeles is home to some of fashion’s most exciting names right now: Louis Verdad, Cynthia Vincent, and Rodarte—to mention just a few. To be able to work with these talents at such an exciting publication as Tu Ciudad is truly an honor.”

“We’re really excited and fortunate to have Anna Lisa on board,” says Oscar Garza, editor-in-chief of Tu Ciudad. “She’s smart and sophisticated, she’s plugged into both the entertainment and fashion worlds, and — as a native of L.A. — she knows precisely the audience we’re trying to reach.”

Raya got her start in magazine journalism at People in New York. While at People, she helped launch the Scoop section and reported fashion and human interest stories for the New York bureau. Shortly thereafter, she moved back to Los Angeles to help launch the regional luxury lifestyle publication, Angeleno, as managing editor, then later pursued an opportunity to become the fashion editor at Movieline magazine, coordinating fashion and cover shoots with a variety of showbiz talent. In 2002, Raya joined Variety, where she helped launch yet another lifestyle magazine, VLife, catering to Variety’s entertainment industry readership.
