Gary Stone Named President & COO of Univision Radio.

Univision Communications Inc. announced the appointment of Gary Stone to President and Chief Operating Officer of Univision Radio, the largest Spanish-language radio broadcaster in the United States. Since February 2001, Stone has served as Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of Univision Radio and its predecessor, Hispanic Broadcasting Corporation.
“Gary has done a terrific job at Univision Radio and we are sure that he’ll even do a better job as President and COO. He brings unparalleled experience and a clear vision of the tremendous opportunities ahead. We are exited about his new role,” stated Ray Rodriguez, President and Chief Operating Officer, Univision Communications Inc.
Prior to his appointment to SVP/COO in 2001, Stone served two years as Vice President/General Manager of the company’s Los Angeles radio stations. Prior to overseeing the Los Angeles market, Stone was General Manager of the Houston stations for twelve years. Stone, who has been in radio for 37 years, began his broadcasting career in 1969 as a Disc Jockey. He has subsequently excelled in numerous roles including: Local Sales Manager, General Sales Manager and General Manager.
“It’s very gratifying to succeed Mac Tichenor, Jr. as president of Univision Radio and I am very pleased that this occurs on my five year anniversary as COO,” stated Stone. “Univision Radio has done extremely well, particularly in recent years, and is poised to do even better. I appreciate the confidence that Jerry Perenchio and Ray Rodriguez have placed in me with this new role.”
Stone serves on the Board of Directors of the Radio Advertising Bureau and on the Advisory Board of Arbitron.
