Entravision’s Dallas Stations Up For Sale?
December 30, 2005
According Radio and Records, one or more of Entravision’s four stations in the Dallas market — Regional Mexican simulcast KZMP-AM & FM (Radio Tricolor), Spanish Contemporary KTCY (Super Estrella) and Latin Urban KZZA (Casa 106.7) — could be up for sale. However, Entravision has not publicly stated its intention to sell any of its stations in the market. When contacted by R&R, a company spokeswoman said, “We’re not going to comment on a rumor.”
Entravision’s current Dallas holdings date back to 2000, when the company acquired Z-Spanish Media Corp. for $366 million. That deal gave the company KZMP-AM and KTCY, which was then the home of KZMP-FM. The Z-Spanish buyout also gave Entravision two FMs, KRVA & KRVF, that in early 2001 were swapped — along with $18.8 million — to First Broadcasting in exchange of the station that is now KZZA. In August 2002, KZMP-FM (then KTCY) was brought into the family with its $35 million acquisition from Spanish Broadcasting System.
